Aeronautical Technical Engineers of Spain join the AQPE

The Col·legi Oficial d’Enginyers Aeroespacials i d’Enginyers Tècnics Aeronàutics d’Espanya (COITAE) have signed the agreement to acquire the status of Member Entity of the Private Foundation Agency for Qualification of Professional Engineers (AQPE), after its admission was agreed upon by the board of trustees last July. The agreement was signed by Miguel Ángel González Pérez, dean of CETIM, and Oriol Altisench Barbeito, President of the AQPE Foundation.

The Fundació Privada AQPE has as a social objective the quality of engineering, promoting, projecting and ensuring excellence in the exercise and good practices of its professionals, through the qualification of engineering professionals based on the accredited knowledge and proven professional experience in different specialties, promoting voluntary and frequent evaluation, promotion among quality professionals, environmental sustainability and best practices, collaborating with companies and administrations, and the study and active participation in national systems and international evaluation and qualification of professionals and the promotion of international convergence of these systems in the European and global framework.

The PE (Professional Engineer) certificate issued by AQPE guarantees the competence level obtained by the engineering professional who submits themself to the evaluation procedure applied by their evaluation comitee and sanctioned by the AQPE Professional Certification Committee. Unlike, and in addition, the university degrees, which accredit the training that qualifies for a profession, through the PE certificate the competences that professionals have in the fields where they have exercised are accredited and in this way rigorous, precise and equanimous information about the professional experience of engineers is offered to companies and society.

The Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Aeroespaciales y de Ingenieros Técnicos Aeronáuticos de España (COITAE) as a Public Law Corporation under the laws and our Magna Carta, has a long and consolidated history in defense of the profession, and thanks to its intervention, they have obtained very important achievements throughout its history, thus, it is worth mentioning among others, the step in its origin from the Helpers and Experts in Aeronautical Engineering in their transition to the degree of Aeronautical Technical Engineering, which meant a remarkable advance in obtaining and consolidate the university status of the profession.

Subsequently, another fundamental milestone was the European and international recognition through its membership of FEANI (European Federation of National Engineers Associations), was the recognition of professional competencies in the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and by extension in the Spanish Agency (AESA), and lately, the intervention in the regulations that led to the birth of the degree in accordance with the European Higher Education Area, Degree in Aerospace Engineering, internationally approved university degree, and that in accordance with the European and Spanish regulations in force, is what gives access to the labor market and enables the exercise of the profession of Aeronautical Technical Engineer.
